homemade Veggie Burger | Make Yourself Easy Steps

Here’s a delightful Veggie Burger recipe for you! These homemade vegetable patties are crispy, flavorful, and perfect for satisfying your burger cravings. Let’s get cooking! 🍔

Ingredients:

  • For the Veggie Patty:
    • 3 medium to large potatoes (about 300 grams)
    • 1 medium to large carrot (about 100 to 125 grams)
    • 40 grams French beans
    • ½ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
    • 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic (or ½ teaspoon garlic paste)
    • 2 teaspoons chopped ginger (or 1 teaspoon ginger paste or ¾ inch ginger)
    • 1 teaspoon chopped green chilies (or ½ teaspoon green chili paste)
    • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley leaves (or chopped coriander leaves)
    • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
    • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
    • ½ teaspoon red chili powder (or cayenne pepper)
    • ½ teaspoon garam masala
    • ⅛ teaspoon ground turmeric
    • 6 tablespoons bread crumbs (adjust as needed)
    • Salt, to taste
    • 6 tablespoons oil (for pan-frying)
    • 3 tablespoons maize flour (polenta or fine cornmeal, substitute corn starch)
    • 3 tablespoons rice flour (substitute all-purpose flour)
    • 2 tablespoons chickpea flour (besan, substitute all-purpose flour)
    • ½ cup water
    • ½ cup additional bread crumbs (or crushed oats, semolina, or corn flakes)
  • For Assembling the Burger:
    • 1 small to medium tomato, thinly sliced
    • 1 small to medium cucumber, thinly sliced
    • 1 small to medium onion, thinly sliced
    • 5 lettuce leaves (rinsed, drained, and chopped)
    • 1 tablespoon butter (or oil, for toasting buns)
    • 4 whole wheat burger buns (or plain or multigrain)
    • 3 tablespoons vegan eggless mayonnaise (or regular mayonnaise)
    • For the special sauce: Crushed mustard seeds, black pepper, sugar, salt, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Veggie Patty:
    • Steam the potatoes, carrots, French beans, and peas until tender.
    • Mash the steamed vegetables together.
    • Sauté chopped garlic, ginger, and green chilies in oil.
    • Add the sautéed mixture to the mashed veggies.
    • Mix in parsley (or coriander) leaves, spices, and salt.
    • Shape the mixture into patties.
    • Coat each patty with a batter made from maize flour, rice flour, chickpea flour, and water.
    • Roll the patties in additional bread crumbs.
    • Pan-fry the patties until golden and crisp.
  2. Assemble the Burger:
    • Toast the burger buns with butter.
    • Spread vegan mayo on the buns.
    • Layer with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and the veggie patty.
    • Drizzle the special sauce over the patty.
    • Top with the other half of the bun.
